My first job: food service

Flipping burgers and scrubbing toilets

I was 15 and had to get a work permit from the school's guidance counselor. I don't remember exactly how long I lasted, but I definitely didn't make it past a semester. I was the newbie, and a really young one at that, so cleaning the bathrooms and the other popular jobs were lovingly assigned to me.

I guess I'm just going to make comments on all your things! My first job was babysitting the Worth kids. I never did get away from all the babysitting. Still do it.

Soda jerk at the local drug store. Back then (dating myself) late 1960's early 70's many drug stores (such as Walgreens only smaller mom & pop type) had a "soda fountain". We served ice cream, sundaes, milk shakes, fountain sodas...all the good stuff. It was fun.

Mom, did you have to wear roller skates?

No roller skates. This was an "inside" job. No car hopping.
